Miss Behave’s shows are a sight to behold. Described by The Independent as “Absolutely charming, startlingly entertaining, and with a hugely enjoyable ‘Aargh’ factor.””

Don’t miss her at Latitude when she presents ‘The Mess’. We caught up with her in Camden before she performed at our Longitude night on Monday 14th May.

Which Latitude are you on right now?
The belly of the Roundhouse, in the Headless Lady Sideshow grabbing a little peace at Professor Vanessas Wondershow. A headless lady is a quiet lady.

Janelle Monae Janelle Monae Janelle Monae!

If any artist could do a guest appearance with you at Latitude who would that be and why?
Jack Dee, Nick Helm, Simon Munnery…and he’s not on the bill but Ken Dodd. All the ingredients for my favourite dish: Chaos

I once headbutted a watermelon into oblivion at a childrens party…I was 12.

Elbow, hands down. Been a slightly obsessive fan ever since I heard “The Stops”

If any artist could do a guest appearance with you at Latitude who would that be and why?
I wouldn’t mind doing a set with a live Biz Markie backing on beatbox. Why? Why not?

Tell us a surprising fact about you
I appeared as a character called Doc in a musical in my primary school. It was a kind of mash-up of Oklahoma, Annie Get Your Gun and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. It was rubbish.

What’s been your weirdest festival experience?
Probably wandering around lost and tripping in Glastonbury as a 16 year old, then coming face to face with a fancy dressed dwarf who wasn’t a hallucination. (more knee to face actually)

Thanks to everyone who came to last night’s Longitude - including Catherine AD, Doc Brown, Miss Behave and Luke Wright - it was amazing!

We learnt about paunch and politics from the ever-witty poet Luke Wright, discovered Doc Brown’s past as self confirmed ‘rappist’, witnessed a beheading from sword swallower Miss Behave AND were treated to stunning sounds from Catherine AD.

Latitude meets Dr Brown!

Dr Brown is a world-renowned clowning skills instructor and actor who trained with the infamous Philippe Gaullier. His unique critically acclaimed offerings Dr Brown Because (2010) and Doctor Brown Becaves (2011) gained: Top Ten pick of the Fringe 2010; Malcolm Hardee Award for Most Original Comedy nomination 2010 & 2011; The Sunday Times’ Best Comedy Newcomer 2010; Total Theatre Award nominee 2011; and global sell-out runs.

The Guardian’s review of Becaves (2011) proclaimed it as “classic physical comedy, given such a twist by Burgers’s opaque charisma and taste for the non-sequitur that it feels like something entirely new”.

We caught up with Dr Brown in Australia ahead of his appearance this year in Latitude’s Cabaret Arena.

What a FANTASTIC night at Longitude! Join us at the next Longitude, taking place in London’s Century Club on Monday 14th May. Just request your place now by emailing your details to longitude@latitudefestival.co.uk.

Latitude line-up so far…

We’ll shortly be annoucing our prestigious Sunday afternoon slot… in the meantime check out our line-up so far :-)

Getting to know Sabrina Mahfouz

Sabrina is a poet, playwright and performer. She likes the way that sounds. Her bank doesn’t… Fusing honesty and humility, with self-deprecating irony and humour, Sabrina’s work has seen her accumulate a clutch of awards, including the Westminster Prize for New Playwrights in 2010, the 2011 Old Vic New Voices TS Eliot Award, the 2011 Made From Scratch Theatre New Writer Award, as well as a nomination for Best Solo Performance 2011 at The Stage Awards.

She is presenting a premiere of her new work at Latitude 2012. Ahead of this, and her appearance as a special guest at Longitude on 16th April, we caught up with Sabrina to ask her about her Latitude.

What latitude are you on right now?
London SW4 - my hometown. It’s sunny and Sunday and there’s a whole common outside to play on, but I’m stuck in an internet caff cos my laptop died!

Who’s your must-see performance at Latitude this year?
Buena Vista Social Club!!! I grew up on their Cuban beats - my Grandad is from the Carribean and would play the bongos and the triangle along to their songs, so it is very exciting to be on the same bill as them.

If any artist could do a guest appearance with you at Latitude who would that be and why?
It would be amazing to get a whole old skool UK Garage thing going on stage at Latitude - the best crews from back in the day - Heartless, Pay As You Go, Roll Deep, So Solid - and then I’d just pop out every now and again with a little poem. Pow.

Tell us a surprising fact about you
I don’t like surprises.

What’s been your weirdest festival experience?
Finding an Irish whiskey bar with midgets and beards and banjos in a cave in the woods at 7am.

Meet Benjamin Zephaniah…

“Rasta folkie”, Benjamin Zephaniah is a master of dub poetry - a fusion of dub music and spoken word over reggae rhythms - a playwright and, according to The Times, one of Britain’s 50 greatest post-war writers.

We caught up with Benjamin ahead of his debut at Latitude Festival, where he’ll be appearing in our Poetry Arena.

What latitude are you on right now?
Don’t know what the latitude is but I’m in Spalding, which is probably the same latitude as Latitude.

Who’s your must-see performance at Latitude this year?
Sorry, can’t answer this in one. Let me have Janelle Monae, Paul Weller, and Tony Harrison.

If any artist could do a guest appearance with you at Latitude who would that be and why?
Has to be Paul Weller. We’ve been on the scene for around the same time, we’re exactly the same age. I don’t understand why we haven’t at least been arrested together.

Tell us a surprising fact about you.
I’m a loser. I’ve never been to Latitude.

What’s been your weirdest festival experience?
I was booked to do Glastonbury. A couple of days before I was due to appear I got a call from them telling me they didn’t want me anymore because they didn’t book rappers. I tried to tell them I wasn’t a rapper but they wouldn’t have it. That was a long time ago. How things have changed.
